About Me
The Full Story
I’m Dr. Rinat Tal, MD, a psychiatrist based in Los Angeles, specializing in psychiatric and mental health care for adults.

My connection to mental health began in childhood, shaped by my ancestors’ experiences as Holocaust survivors. Witnessing the pain they carried and the challenges it created in their life and mine has inspired a deep interest in the psyche. Growing up in this environment fueled my desire to understand both myself and those around me on a deeper level.

I began my academic journey with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley. During this time, I realized that to fully grasp the complexities of the human experience, I needed to explore the entirety of life—from birth to death. This understanding guided my path to earning a medical degree from Tel Aviv University, followed by completing my psychiatric residency and fellowship at UCLA.

I believe treatment is deeply personal and should be tailored to the unique needs of each individual, a principle that is at the core of my approach. My work combines medical practices with a holistic perspective, considering the mind, body, and emotions as interconnected elements of well-being.

The privilege of working closely with people of diverse backgrounds has inspired my desire to exchange ideas with other practitioners. I teach workshops at the Free Association Clinic for Existential Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis centered around the philosophical underpinnings of human emotions.

Outside of my practice, I find joy in spending time in nature, sharing meals with friends, and immersing myself in literature, art, and music—and anything that celebrates the creativity of human expression.
